![]() ![]() ![]() The early tribes were decimated by disease, didnt have horses, and guns. It isnt an easy question to answer because there was different time periods of conflict where tribes would be in different situations. Sad this is way at the bottom but this is correct answer. If the lands were more desirable they would have been conquered sooner and with far more force. Geography was the Comanches, apaches, and Seminoles greatest asset. Western Europeans had more numbers, better technology, more experience with modern warfare tactics, and a greater desire to conquer lands. If the US army devoted more time and resources to any particular Native American tribe they usually lost swiftly. It's nothing like the Cherokee being driven out of Georgia by the US Army. Most of the natives success is against smaller groups who needed to invade their lands in order to take it because general expansion of the United States lead to those lands finally becoming "desired". Their success in battle has more to do with a lack of interest in western parties and less to do with their ability to fend off large armies. If you look geographically at all the Native American tribes that did "well" in battle and held out long (mostly the Apache, Comanche, and Seminoles), you will notice that they all lived on very unattractive land for western settlers. ![]() Instructions and advice on how to best do an AMA.
